im using MMCD latest version , with a palm IIIc
yes, they are compatible according to the mmcd website.

alright , this is the second cable i have bought , and it still sucks and doesnt work......

i remeber reading somewhere that i need a special cable for the 1990 model DSM ??
can anybody clarify ? ??

so i bought another cable beacuse my last one doesnt work.

when i recieved the cable , i noticed my laptop didnt have a 9 pin adapter ! ! :notgood:

so i bought a null modem adapter at radioshack so i could use my palm.

NO LUCK ! !

it doesnt work with my palm pilot either w/ everything connected properly .....

i goto test and it gives me " serial comm error "

so here we are at it again..................

i also tried using palm n stein.

no luck there please help a fellow dsmer out ! !

thanks for your time

which cable are you talking about here? The logger cable that plugs into your diagnostic port on your car? or the serial cable that plugs into the palm?

i have a Palm IIIxe with a cradlde that i use MMcd and Palm N Stein on.
i just made my own cable (found in the tech archives here on DSMtuners) and it works good on my '90

the actual logger cable.

ive used my friends logger cable before and its worked perfect ! !
so i know its not my palm !

but thanks for the responses !

my cable only has 3 wires , the one that goes to pin #1 and the other two that goto pins #10 and #12

So did you ever get this fixed? i have a 90 eclipse as well and same datalogger sertup (palm iiix & mmcd software) & have no problems.

Did you use your friend's logger cable in YOUR car with YOUR palm? or in his car?

although it doesn't seem this may be your problem, be careful about the location of pins 10 & 12. they are fairly close & easy to connect o the wrong pin.

ok i was about to post on this, i seem to be having the esame problem as sYnOnYx. my cable to the diagnostic port also only has 3 wires, and i when i hook it up i get nothing. im trying to use mmcd on a palm m series and it just doesnt read anything like its not hooked up.

do i need a different cable? if your 3 wire one worked howd u get it to work? i also have a 90

vans, when you write that it "...it just doesnt read anything like its not hooked up...", what exactly do you mean? what kind of display do you get? or error message?

1) Make sure ignition is on. I made the same mistake before realizing the obvious - the logger needs to be logging something! :)

2) Right now, I'm out of town & don't have my logger with me. But, there is also a command to tell it to start logging the data.

also check here for your cable:

Theres a lot of crappy cables floating around.

I bought one, didnt work.

Had to buy another one which did work for me.

Spend the extra dough and get a quality cable.
