I'm wondering whether I can use the map sensor for my VPC to log boost. I read about using a regular 5v sensor and tying it into the egrt signal wire.

So I need to know a few things.

Is the vpc MAP sensor 5v?
How do I tell which MAP sensor I have? I think they have a few different range ones that can be used.
Will tapping into it affect the signal sent to the vpc and ecu?
Where is the best place to tap into the egrt wire?

I'm planning to use technomotive on my laptop to log it. Hopefully it will see the egrt signal. I haven't madeup a cable yet so I haven't been able to try it out.

There are several reasons not to do it (at least not with TMO software).

1. TMO logger puts in a slight voltage into that line, thus slightly messing up the reading.

2. VPC MAP is supposed to be 3 bar (~29psi). But I have tested a couple of them against several mechanical gauges and they went flat at around 23-24psi!!! Thus, suggesting that they do not read as high as they claim to do. However, I was going this with a TMO logger, so who knows if it was messing with the MAP signal.

Lastly, based on what I saw, VPC stops seeing extra boost at around 23-24 psi. So your ECU does not see the extra boost above that level. The only reason why your engine will stay together if you run ~30psi on VPC is because of fuel pressure regulator and race fuel (most people use race fuel with that much boost).
