locating ECU ???

I was just wondering where the ECU is in my 1991 GSX is located. I kno theres one by the passenger side door behind the kick panel.im prety sure thats the TCU. wheres the ECU?

It is behind your radio. Pull the radio, and you should see it back there...

It's not just under the radio, though. It's as far forward close to the firewall as it can get almost. PITA to get to, also. At least on 2g's it is.

Pull the carpeted panels on side of console to access the ECU.

So what your saying is i was right the TCU is by the door undre the passenger side kick pannel.

He is saying that if you want to remove your ECU, you have to pull the carpeted panels away from the sides of the CENTER console. That is where the bolts are located that hold the ECU in place. You can see the ECU through the radio hole (if you remove the radio) but if you want to remove the ECU, you have to unbolt it. That means, pull the carpeted panels on either side of your CENTER console (not by the door) so you can get at the bolts.
What is it that you are saying is by the door?

Yea i kno what your saying i just dident kno which one was which i know now ECU behind the radio and the TCU under the pass side kick panel

Sounds like you might need an introduction to the VFAQ site. http://www.vfaq.com/FAQlocator-index.html

The ECU location page is kind of hidden, so unless you checked the various ECU pages you might not notice that locating it is written up under checking for a EPROM ECU. http://www.technomotive.com/howto/ecu1g/checkeprom.htm

i dont have a haynes but i just got a chilton
