As you can see I'm a new member. Just bought my first DSM 2 last month. I’ve been noticing lifter ticking when I first start the car. It lasts for a couple of minutes but seems to go away after the oil is fully circulated through the engine. The previous owner ran Mobil 1 5W-30 since his first oil change. Could this be a sign of camwalk or should I just change the motor oil weight before I begin to check the cam and lifters for play.

camwalk... lifter play?? cam play?? Honestly, The lifters clatter on higher mileage dsm's. Its just a sign of wear... Clean the lifters, replace them... Search it up on the boards, you'll find quite a lot of threads about this. If you even need help I'm out in Ann Arbor, and I'm in canton when I'm at my Girlfriends. So, here's a resource for you to check out how to clean.

To add onto what 1gdsmraider stated
It's very common for the old style lifters to tick, go bad over time, clog, etc.
The older style ones have tiny(almost pin hole sized) oiling ports. The new ones have huge ports and are a night and day difference.
The bad thing is that it can get worse over time causing other problems like phantom knock.
The best thing to do is use the site 1gdsmraider gave you and replace them.
You want the 3rd generation lifters for our engine.
I bought mine for $138.60, here:

Ask for Bryan.

Also if you want to see what your old style lifters can cause, do a quick search for Phantom knock :D They aren't the only cause for phantom knock but you will see they rank pretty much at the top

Good luck
