My other question is ( I'm a newbie ) what is this injector and what do you mean by knife-edging it?

That is a short ram intake, yes.

Knife-edging the injector hump: We are talking about the fuel injectors, where the boss protrudes into the runner in the intake manifold. The goal is to remove some metal from this so that more air can pass around it, and being less turbulent. Usually by shaping so there is a "knife edge" on the leading side of the hump. Makes sense?
