Hay guys, I just picked up a 98 Eclipse GS two days ago and the cars running great! The owner had installed neon blue interior lights in the passenger side footwell. He was lazy and decided not to install them on the driver's side.
The question is, "what's the easiest way to throw in a strip of led's on the drivers side"?.
(The led's that are currently on the passenger side are wired to a switch under the deck)

Any comments are appreciated!

Are you just throwing in a strip? And Just under the footwell?

Two ways cut pigtail on that light socket attach the strip, solder, and mount.

2 They make a t10 plug in that u pre wire/solder and just stick it in like the stock bulb, then mount the strip.

3 LOL just replace the bulbs with whatever color led you want,no wiring..The bulb your looking for is your standard t10..

Ya, its just a 12 inch strip and it would be taped under the footwell

So technically the t10 plug is an adapter and the led strip is connected to that instead of the switch?

Ya that was my original plan, except I checked the back of the original LED switch that was installed. All of the prongs are being used so I'm not sure if i have to splice the new strip into the existing wires?

Yeah, that's all there is to it. Just find what wires are hooked to where and splice. Go even further and cut the connectors that are on the switch for the passenger side and hook driver/passenger together, crimp/solder and put back on the switch.

Is there a fuse for it all or what?

I believe so, but I didn't take enough time to thoroughly check it out yet. Would the correct term be "tapping" into the wires ? I'm pretty much looking to do this with minimal effort and would most likely just wrap the bare wire with electrical tape.

:nono: Electrical wiring is something you do not want to half a$$. Do it once, do it right. Take pride in your car. The bare minimum that I would do is take the wires off of the switch, strip some insulation off of the wires, tap into wire, and heat shrink it. That tape is and will come off. And if you know how to solder, that would be the best bet before you heat shrink.

I'm not fond of all those T-taps and what not. IMO, a good solder joint and adhesive lined/filled heat shrink will give you a much better connection.

Also good electrical tape will not unravel, I recommend 3M Super 33+, it's expensive at $6 a roll but it's the best electrical tape out there.

Alright, thanks for the help guys. I'll try work some electrical magic and see what happens.

It doesn't look that bad. I will be doing mine in Red but only when I open and close the door to match the door sills that I did. My head unit/dvd player has a blue screen when I am on an aux port without video that shines a lot of the cabin. Blue lights are typically illegal so I'd just use them when you are parked or something.

Only illegal if you can see the bulb from out side the car. Ive talked to some officers in the past few years as ive had my entire cars lit up, and they all said as long as I cant see the bulb your not breaking the law.
