2G LED headlight mod

Those look like the dumbest idea ever. LED's may be bright when you look straight at them, but their light output drops off significantly with distance. Plus, that "AFTER" image looks like there's no beam cut-off, which means you'd be blinding other drivers.

A quality true-HID conversion is probably your best bet for increased illumination and that cool look you're trying to achieve.

i forget to mention that this is meant for hi beams only ... thats why there is no beam cut off in the pictures linked... but i planned to do cut of the 2 grooves inside plug and put it in the low beam housing ... thus having that front cover and not blinding people....

yeah i am using the silverstars 4k at the moment..

My headlights cost me 40 bucks and are brighter than silverstars by a land slide and since when does bulbs have to do with the cutoff? The reflector/Projector housing is what has the cutoff line, not Bulbs. Some bulbs have an object attatched to them to "HELP AID" headlights with a shitty beam pattern, called D2R when you get them in HID's. Which is what I use. Not hard to make. Which is why I can't stand seeing people bitching about hid's. Above the cutoff line, my headlights aren't bright at all, Below it, I'm blinding small rodents and bugs that get ran over by my car. Most companies you see on ebay or whatever, selling HID Kits, the bulbs you get are D2S bulbs with whatever socket you chose, like 9006. Ask for D2R Bulbs. They are made for reflector housings such as our stock housings, not projectors. They have a metal plate glued to the bottom of the bulb, so light doesn't shine to the bottom of the housing, which in return will shine up at people's eyes.

Honestly looking at my 8000k low beam HID's above 2ft, my headlights don't look bright at all. Looks like a led illuminated the headlight. My headlights don't glare into anyone's eyes. And its soo easy to make. thin piece of steel, is all you need per bulb.

LED's however do have the ability to be as bright... but it takes a lot of power and a lot of heat transfer.

well.. i have not heard good things about putting those HID kits into the stock housing... tons of glare and blinding people .... ill just stick to the silverstars then.

search ebay for a simple HID kit. theyre very easy to install and i got mine for 60$ with shipping NEW. 30000k purple...very sexy :D

You also have worse light output then before, have illegal headlights, and are blinding oncoming traffic. This is fact, but you'll argue about it.

I got a set of 9000k HIDs in my mustang in the original housing... They look amazing, which is the only reason I still have them. Light output is about 20% less forward, and about 75% less on the sides of the car.

I would only recommend getting a HID set if you have a projector style housing. Normal bulbs have larger filaments, which allows for more light when working off a reflection style housing. The smaller filament in a HID leaves dark spots.

cutting those grooves will make it fit in the low beam plug but will not light the bulb. i tried with a pair of sylvanias
