Hey everyone ok well one day im working on my car replacing the alternator i take out the power steering assembly and then when i reinstall everything i have this weird leak coming from the bolt pictured below..... it is highlighted by the white arrow...
engine.bmp

the leak comes out through this bolt and drains my power steering fluid all over my brand new alternator,.... which then burns the fluid up causing smoke to rise from my hood... i go through a whole bottle of ps fluid in a matter of days... as of now i fabricated a small aluminum catch to catch the fluid and i just drain it daily i heard from fellow dsmers in the area that its an oring inside that needs to be replaced can anyone help? finding the part is a hassle

sorry this pic is not of my engine bay i dont want to rip off who's ever car this may be just the first pic i found in the gallery... sorry

Ran to the dealer chances are they will say discontinued.Replaced mine recently, the thing is i'm an auto tech by profession so i keep a whole assortment of those little basterds comes in handy.

This same thing happened to me. I just bought a package of assorted o-rings from autozone and found the one that fit. Leak was gone after.

i know this is off topic but you have an na 4g63 in a 2g are you still in ny or is that just a pic you found as i thought they only came like that outside the us. but on topic there is two orings take them off and go to the parts store and match it up.

Extreme psi also sells power steering pump rebuild kits. I know you might only be looking at replacing a single o-ring but if you can't find the right size at least there is another option.

And if one has failed, chances are that others have too, or are about to.

You ought to just rebuild the pump. It isn't hard, doesn't cost but $20-$30, and then you won't have to worry about it again.

IM so glad I read this...LOL I was going to buy a whole new power steering pump. BUT I have a question...I have this same POS leak and im wonderin, I put in two bottles of fluid into the reservoir, and in the matter of about 5-10 minutes the WHOLE thing drained (well idk if its the whole thing but enough to where i don't have power steering AGAIN) is it possible that its this little o-ring? or maybe something else?

Heh, yeah I have to do the same thing.

But.. that sounds like an awful lot of fluid to have to put in. Check the lines for a leak and under the car for a puddle. You'll smell it too if gets on any hot parts. In your case it might be worth rebuilding.

Iam so glad i read this article mine is leaking at the top at that banjo nut thought it was gonna be a line i would have to replace thank's guys u rock:hellyeah:
