Leak at housing?

Just picked up a 92 gsx with 57k on it! ran great for a while than started sputtering at about 7 psi ,(auto meter mach. boost gauge)Did a leak test pumped it up to 10 and herd hiss coming from backside of turbo.only holds press for about 4 seconds.I like my ride alot but so far its had alot of problems,Im temted to dump it,HELP!!!

Sounds like the 14b turbo's compressor o-ring... It's a huge one, not hard to replace once you pull the turbo, costs $8 from mitsu... Or it's supposed to be the same one on the 2000 ford diesel trucks fuel filter...

You need to pull the turbo, and use a massive pair of snap ring pliers to pull the ring holding the compressor housing on... You'll see the o-ring, it will look like a square piece of plastic but it's supposed to be round!

Might as well rebuild the turbo while you have it apart, just use some chem dip and clean everything. Make sure to note the alignment of the nut, exhaust wheel, and compressor wheel before removing them if you do decide to rebuild it...
