Does mounting a wideband in the stock front o2 sensor location reduce its lifespan by much? I found this site innovatelc1orlm1install [ECMTuning - wiki] and if I don't need to weld in a new bung that would be great. I was going to have it output narrowband to the ECU anyways so I could lean it up a bit (I'm running rich across the whole RPM band).

I would not mount a wideband in the front o2 bung. I feel that it is too close to the turbo, as it is mostly recommended to be about 36" downstream. I have mine mounted right behind the flex section (same wideband). Some people will recommend it be mounted right in front of the flex section so that if the flex section leaks, it won't mess up your wideband readings.

How do you know you're running rich? Do you have the wideband already installed, since I don't see a logger in your profile.

I just use a cheap OBDII logger right now. I'm going to get Evoscan here when I can afford the cable. I think I'm running rich because no matter what, there is always the smell of unburnt gas when I get out of my car. You can smell gas at idle too. Until I get the LC-1 in, I won't know for sure.

I may have a boost leak, but I won't know until I get home from school this weekend and can use my compressor. If I could mount it in the front O2 location, I'd install it this weekend. Not sure if I'll get to it if I have to get the bung welded in.

dont fit it in the o2 housing it wont last ,, weld a bung in the de-cat pipe its supposed to be in between the twelve and two o clock position.

you can mount it there if you get the heatsink see it in the center, costs like 100.00 though
