What are the laws regarding motor swaps. I have a 2g with a 91 6bolt. I'm guessing its illegal, but what if it passes emissions?

How does it work when a dealer puts a new motor in under warranty. Technically the VIN's are different anyhow, right?

Just curious.

While an older motor in a newer car is illegal in some emissions states,,, it really shouldn't matter for DSMs. I would be VERY suprised if anyone would know that you have a 6 bolt unless you specifically told them. Its one of those things that isn't an issue unless you make it one,,which you obviously wouldn't if you're talking to the smog tech guy.

In regards to your engine question, I dont believe that should have any bearing on the vin. The VIN is the information on the cars origin as a whole, not its specific components no matter how big they may be.

ok, yeah 6bolts and 7bolts look alike, the turbo might kill me when they see how big it is..LOL

as far as vin's, i know its hard to read, but my dash doesn't have a vin, neither does the motor so i'm just worried if someone tries to find a vin and they can't.. LOL

only my inspection sticker shows the vin
