My mods are current in profile. I can run 3-5 hard pulls befor I get knock from heatsoaking the stock smic. I would like to keep the sleeper look with as much power as possible. My question is would there be a larage gain by going with the dejon tool upgraded SMIC? I did a search to see if I could find something on them but came up empty. Thanks in advance for the help

For your current mods the SMIC will be fine, but what are your plans for the future? If you plan on upgrading to a 50 trim or larger then you may just want to pick a FMIC now. BTW Dejon Tool is a good company with quality products.

To be honest I have had the Big T28 for almost 2 years and I am content with that. When I started my goal was 300 WHP. With the large smic and a great tune I should be there. I have tried to keep it as stock looking as possible. Thanks for the help. I would like to here from somebody who has a Big T28 with the larger SMIC to see how they like it.

I ran my evoIII with a Hahn Race Craft upgraded bar & plate SMIC which is rated to be good for 400 whp for a summer. My thoughts are yes it can be done but it all depends on what kind of boost you plan on running (but a FMIC will do it better). Mine was good up to about 18 psi on pump 94. Running that boost level I would still usually see some knock in 3rd or 4th if I was doing a full pull. When I switched to a FMIC kit I picked up a few lb/min airflow at the same boost level & could pull through all the gears with zero knock. At the time I bought the FMIC kit for my plans down the road but was surprised with the gains I felt even with the evoIII turbo at the 18 psi boost level. If your set on the sleeper SMIC setup then I would highly recommend some water/meth injection if your planning on running a descent amount of boost. Otherwise pick up a FMIC setup & get it anodized black for the sleeper look.

You could get a supra SMIC. Pretty cheap, fairly easy to install, and definitely worth it. I think I paid 120 for mine. There are 2 tech writeups for installing it in a 2g now.

(One of them is mine)

The downside to the supra sidemount is the amount of work required for it to fit properly.

I have the same goal as you. I like to keep my car as stock looking as possible.
Personally I have the Hahn Racecraft big SMIC with my t28. I am extremely happy with the intercooler and it does it's job just fine. It also bolted right up and used the same locations for my hard piping as the stock setup did.

Deals can be found. I picked up my SMIC on ebay for ~$120 shipped. (the guy spelled Hahn and Haghn. Use this site to help with commonly misspelled words on ebay)

However, I do agree that a water/meth injection kit would be required to pull a lot of power out of the SMIC.

I got an Alamo SMIC (it's about 2x thicker than stock) and my 14b at 17psi heatsoaks it after a couple highway pulls. I'm now getting a FMIC.

If you step up to a FMIC, you may have a different opinion, I know I did ;)

But like I previously said if you must run a SMIC, defently go with the meth injection if you want to run a descent amount of boost :thumb:
