toronto,
im waiting on a SBR (kinetic) fmic. i'm wondering if anyone experienced installing this fmic (3.5" thick), or greddy (3").

i know i have to cut the bumper n shize and i hear on 2g's its not metal but sum kinda plastic (safe? LOL)...how hard is it to cut it? how much of it? and if anyone has any pictures on how they cut there that would help ALOT!!!

thanx,
luis

If you have or know someone with a Sawzall or however u spell it, then that would make life real easy. Those'll cut through it like butter.

If your talking about the bumper cover, then you can do it with a Razor knife, it will just take some time. If you wanna get it done quick use a dremel or a rotozip that way you have some control over what you cut.

Yes you do have to trim the bumper, use a sawzall but tape off what you want cut dont eyeball it, also you are more than likley going to have to cut the bumper support behind the bumper depending on how tall your core is, that requires some time and you only get one try at it. and if you mees it up you will be :cry:ing at the prices of a replacement

WOOOW U JUS SCARED ME SHITLESS NOW LOL...have any of you tried this yourselves? and how hard would you say it is?

i think warmachine is nuts :tease:

using a sawzall on the bumper cover !?!?!? I used a dremel with cutoff wheel for my bumper cover. use a sawzall for the bumper SUPPORT [ big black plastic thing behind the bumper cover ] .

not a big deal, just take your time on the cover itself.. and go to town with the bumper support :thumb:

THAT JUST MADE ME SO FCUKN HAPPY!!! :D good2see someone says its doable LOL

I used a dremel with a side cutting drillbit for my bumper trimming. As for the metal near the radiator, you could use a hacksaw if you are desperate, but i'd suggest a sawzall and a steady hand.

I used a Skill saw for the bumper and it was easy. The worst part IMO was removing and re-installing the bumper cover. That last bolt by the wheel well is a PITA if you don't remove the front wheels.

I had a Greddy FMIC and recently upgraded to the a core the size of an AGP race which is thicker than the greddy and slightler wider. I found cutting the bumper support for the race core one was much easier than the greddy due to the top pipe on the greddy that goes across the IC. I did however have to cut part of the radiator support on the bigger IC due to it being a short route one and it goes directly into the engine bay from the front. I also cut both the bumper cover and support with a sawzall. If I had to do it again i would choose something else to cut my bumber cover because it isnt very rigid and gets hard to cut cause its flimsy. Good luck

its easy. dont worry about it just do it. however, easy doesnt mean you can do in an hour. i suggest you pull aside few hours for this. you want to take your time.

thanx guys, that helped alot. i have a dremel and a reciprocating saw, so all i need is the steady hand and patience LOL

hopefully wont need to, but ill tell u guys if i screw it up

thanx
