I would like to know what you guys would recommend between the 2. I'm looking to replace my AGX's and I have Ground Control coilovers. I was leaning towards the tokico's but saw a post where more people seemed to be talking about the Koni's.

Before I got my JIC coilovers I used koni's and LOVED them. I also used them on my 240sx before I got coilovers for it and have had not a single problem with them. If funds dont allow koni yellows then wait till they do because I think they are well worth the money. But if you just use your car for daily driving and nothing else then the others will be just fine. Hope that helps some!

Note that Koni's have more damping than Tokicos, so if you are running stiff springs you definately want the yellows.

Currently I'm using the street setup from ground control. I can't remember the spring rates though. The car is mainly a daily driver with alittle twisty driving. So, from everyones comments, I guess I should get the Koni yellows instead of the Tokico illuminas if my wallet will allow it. Thanks for the help so far.

Well if your wallet doesnt allow it right now then wait! I assure you that if u choose to wait it will be well worth it to get the yellows!!!

where is a good place to pick up the koni's and about how much are they running (avg)?...{97gssleeper those GC coilovers...you like them?}...i have to get the whole setup...need new shocks and springs i can adjust...i have just a set of sprint lowering springs on oem shocks and the ride is ruff not to mention way to low...ideas, suggestions?

My girl has the koni yellows(GSX) and I have the Tokico Illuminas(TSi FWD). The konis are nice but they only adjust rebound I think, and the konis dont have any way of letting you know where your adjustment is at.The tokicos have five levels and adjust rebound and compression. For the street the tokicos are the way to go, on the softest setting they feel almost softer than stock. But for performance I would go for the konis.

I like the GC's. A friend of mine got those sprint springs and they sucked big time. I guess I'll try to find the Koni's. Anyone know of a place to get them cheap?

I got mine from horsepowerfreaks.com...they didnt seem priced to bad at all but I'm sure someone could find them cheaper somewhere else.

You are correct that Konis only adjust rebound ... at least until you get to the top 1/2 turn of stiffness, when it starts to have strong effects on compression, as well. As to how to know where they are adjusted, this is quite simple. Always first crank the shock up to full stiff (this is a general rule for adjustable shocks, not just Konis). Then back the adjuster off, keeping track of how far you have turned the knob. To be clear: always turn it at least one 1/2 turn down from full stiff to avoid the nasty rise in compression caused by the covering up of some bleed ports in the head.

In summary: If you can count to two in steps of one quarter (since I don't know of anyone who is more precise about their Koni settings that quarter-turns), then you can keep track of how your Konis are set.
