Knocking issue

Once i got my logger i started logging with my boost controller completely unhooked. So on my autometer boost gauge it shows about 10psi. The log is really clean with maybe 2 counts of knock at the most around 5,000rpm. The only thing thats shitty is i have really high IDC's for such low boost they are hitting around %84.
So something is definantly going on, i checked for boost leaks and ive got leaks coming out of the dipstick and really small one around the throttle body.

Now i put my MBC on and set it pretty low at about 12psi or so.
The weird thing is that with my MBC hooked up i start getting knock even before i hit 10psi. Ive got it hooked up via the nipple off the J-pipe if that matters at all.

Things done to the car:
HKS crappy foam intake filter with 1g mas
some crappy custom catback said to be 3" but this thing is has the worst bend ive ever seen and its basically shit.
(I obviously didnt put these mods on, they came with the car and will be replaced eventually)
also running a chip emulator with the stock 1g bin file at the moment.

So i am lost as to why im getting this knock running such low boost. Fuel issue maybe? Im still have yet to rewire my fuel pump. maybe a bad FPR?
Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't have such high duty cycles for such a low amount of boost. I suggest checking for leaks that may cause your turbo to work harder than normal, which shows up as high MAF readings and high injector duty cycles.
 
Im gona go out and get another log here in a little bit and ill post one up without MBC and one with.
 
ok well i got some more logs I didnt even get to put the MBC on because it was so bad. Ive never seen it do this before from just running off wastegate spring only. But all my other logs ive done were at night and back when it was significantly cooler.

COOLANT TEMP WAS AT 209F-213F

here is my first one. I rolled onto the throttle just to see if it would help the knock but as you can see it didnt. Somethings gota be messed up.

First log is no boost controller, second log is with the boost controller, correct? Or are both logs with no boost controller?

On that second pull, it looks like it was knocking before you started to roll on the throttle, do you have any issues with phantom knock?
 
both were with no boost controller. i dunno about phantom knock the knock is coming while under boost. I have some tb gaskets/j-pipe gasket/oil cap/dip stick/knock sensor on the way and ill see if i can stop some leaks and see if replacing the knock sensor helps any.

the second pull has significantly more knock since i did it right after the first pull you wouldnt think i would heatsoak after 1 pull at about 10psi but what ever.
 
That's why I think a boost leak has something to do with this. Even though you're only seeing 12 psi, if it's a big enough leak a harder working turbo will generate enough heat to soak that intercooler quickly. If you still have problems after replacing the gaskets, take a look at both the upper and lower ic hoses and make sure those aren't falling apart and developing leaks.
 
ya im hoping after i get all the stuff i ordered put on i can fix some leaks and then be able to hear where the possible other leaks are. also hopefully get the new knock sensor in, even if its not bad im sure its never been replaced so might as well.

You are hearing air come out the dipstick??? Have you done a compression test. Sounds to me like you have some pretty bad blow by.
 
well i fixed the knock. my timing was way too advanced. but my TB seals are leaking so i need to fix that and then hopefuly my IDC's will go down.

ya ive been meaning to do a compression test but im scared to see the numbers. maybe ill do that tomorrow.
 
ya i knew that but i didnt do it i probably should have to see if thats why cyl 1 and 2 are lower. But im leaving for Georgia tomorrow so I dont really have time till I get back. ill post up when i get around to doing it again.

I did a 3rd gear pull today at about 14psi and it was smooth except for two occasions of 1 count of knock. At that same spot were i get knock my rpm's dip. are some new ignition wires needed? plugs are gaped correctly and only a few thousand miles old and one step colder.
