Knock sensor going crazy after head installed

Well after a handful of problems I'm on to another issue.car starts an idles perfect an sounds good. As soon as the Rpms go over 2400rpm I'm getting 15 counts of knock or right around that. Any ideas on what this could be. The head an motor are 100% good so I know it's not that. This cars giving me any problems it possibly could. Please help me out here

Well the sensor was good before I put the new head on. Other then a new sensor what else could it be?

Just because it was good before, don't assume it's still good. I ran into the same situation when I did my 6 Bolt swap. Worked grand before and then ran into issues with it after that. Threw codes and everything you describe. Spend the $35 to replace it and then if you have more issues, THEN continue the troubleshooting.

Not sure. Did you set base timing correctly?

The timing is all correct. I timed the cas with a light to 5tdc an the belt was all timed right as far as I know

Its likely that the valvetrain is making just enough noise to trigger the sensor. How does the head sound? Does it tick some? Did you bleed and clean your lifters before installing them? Cylinder Head 107 - 4G63 HLA Lifter Tech - YouTube

Edit: Your profile says youve got ECMLINK. Why not just set it to ignore the knock sensor until youre out of vacuum and right around 0- 1psi boost?? Its just likely phantom knock due to a slightly noisy valvetrain which a lot of us experience...

Makes sense. The default setting is for it to ignore knock until 2200 rpms

I do have a exhaust leak at my down pipe but when I set the knock sensor to 3200rpm an 21% throttle

It still has knock. I'm on my way to buy a sensor right now hopefully it works

Well just pulled the old sensor out an holy cow... The whole back of its melted off were that black film stuff is..

Also put the new sensor in tourqed it to 17ftlbs an I'm still getting knock any more ideas?

Is this only occurring right around 3200 RPM since you pushed off the knock sensor to this point? What happens if you get her up to 3500- 3700 RPM and stab the throttle? Im certain your valvetrain is just giving you phantom knock, and if so, it will only happen at certain RPM points. Can you look at your wideband when the knock is happening, just to be sure youre not leaning out a bit? If youre not leaning out when this knock is occurring, Id play with the knock sensor and set the TPS point a tad higher until the phantom knock is pushed off. Does LINK allow you to use boost estimate instead of RPM and TPS to govern the knock sensor? If so, set it so that the sensor is off until 0- 5psi and see what happens.

Ill have to try that Tommorow. Could it be a possibility that it was because of my massive boost leak? Didn't think to check for one till tonight an I had a couple. My throttle body was leaking air faster then I could put it in there.
