I’m trying to get a new long block and i don’t have allot of money to spend on it. The long blocks that the karking sells are really good price i just wanted to know if anybody had any experience with them??

The problem with Karking is that while they may say they use OEM parts, they're not REALLY OEM. They call them OEM-quality, which is not the same in my mind. If you say you're using OEM, you damn well better have Mitsu original parts in that engine. I've read at least 2 or 3 failures with their engines on here, and many posts of their engines leaking oil and fluids.

I considered purchasing a karking engine, but for $300 more, I was able to rebuild my 7 bolt (melted piston) and have the work done at a repuatable shop where I could see the progress and know how it was built. (nothing against karking, I just like to see the work done)

Crazy skier is right, basically for a few hundred more dollars you can build your own long block and use oem parts instead of oem like parts. Hey i even have a mitsu full engine gasket set, not just the top end the whole long block with crush washers and everything, and i got it for 218 from the dealer. OEM Pistons are 200 from slowboy, machine work depending on what you want done and where you are up to 350 (my cousins was 180 for everything). Rods find a decent pair in the classified for 50 bucks. Find a spare 6 bolt in the classifieds between 50-150 bucks. And have a about 200 for miscellaneous things (youll need it). And money for bearings and assembly if you dont want to assemble it.

But if you want to save yourself the pain to put it together i would go with http://www.pinamotorsports.com/ from what I've heard from a few people on this website that had their dsm's taken care of there is that they are a very good company. A good shortblock would cost between 1075-1500 depending on what you put in it. Seriously thats not a bad price. Hope i could help a little.
