what are your thoughts on this wing? can anyone find some pics of how it looks on a 99 gst... would it fit the flow of the stock bumpers... im about to get this one to replace the turbo wing... the turbo wing is placed in the middle... can it be moved back? it looks good but why is it in the middle of the trunk...

One of the main purposes for a "Wing" is to create down force on the rear end. To help with traction for the rear wheels. If you have a GST then you don't need that down force due to you being front wheel drive. Now unless you just want it for looks thats another thing. But I don't like the "arecter set" look.

i know LOL i changed my mind that wing is hideously huge... but can i move the stock wing back though?

Yea you can, but you'll have to drill new holes for it and bondo the old ones. But before you move it, take a pic of the rear of your car from the side, then put it in paint or photoshop or whatever and move the spoiler back to see if you like it. I thought about moving mine back too, but then i moved it in Paint and saw that it sticks out too much for my tastes, but it may be perfect for you. Just check first, it will save you some time and $$$ if you dont like it.

I like it, here is some pics...

is not rice..

Everyone always says "Put the OEM turbo wing on it isn't rice because it is OEM". I'm sorry but if you think our "basket handle" wing is any better than the "picnic table" I don't understand it. I like the turbo wing, but what it really comes down to is personal preference. Cars can be riced from the factory. Anyways, the wing doesn't look horrible but I don't think I personally rock it. Not to say you shouldn't, it's your car and as long as you can deal with the haters get what you like. Hell if I liked neon lights and chrome all over my car you can bet I would have them on my car because I drive it not someone else. Less than 5% of the wings on cars are functional so it shouldn't matter if you add a non functional wing.

My DD ( the N/T) is made in America, has a Chrysler motor, and is totally stock. Yet I get rice comments all of the time because I happen to have the O.Z turbo look alike.

DSM with wing= rice.:notgood:

EVO with wing= rally.

However, I don't like the wing on the EVO either. Also note that the DSM has a full body kit and is parked in front of Honda that also has a body kit; I will admit though, it is a clean car.:talon:

I was only talking about the wings... and the point was that neither wing is that functional. They offer no adjustments and have no down force angles yet the EVO wing isn't rice and the kaminari wing is.

Also what does being parked near a honda have to do with anything? Sounds like ignorance to me.

I do believe that the EVO wing has been wind tunnel tested and at high speeds does, in fact, provide some down force. As I stated before, I don't like the look of either of them.

As for the Honda, I was just noteing that it also had a body kit and that the cars in these photos appear to be show cars. While the 2g in the pics is a nice, clean car, atenzany62 asked if it would flow well with the stock bumpers and I just don't think it will. Observation not ignorance.:talon:

The evolutions spoiler is not rice for many reasons. One being that its OEM, and serves more then one purpose besides looking "cool". The main purpose is downforce, that being said the EVO has 46.86LBS of front end lift and 9.68LBS of rear end lift at 90MPH, at 124 MPH it has 90.42LBS of front end lift and 18.7LBS fo rear end lift. Scary to think how much this car creates lift, but without it this car would suffer major downforce negligence. So for your comment 99RedGs, you are wrong the evo wing serves a great purpose at high speeds, the only thing that was valid in your comments was that the kaminari wing is not functional.

Adding this kaminari wing stictly out of looks and not out of functionality is the owners choice, if they are asking for opinions, this is a DSM community what did you expect when we hear aftermarket spoiler. Please educate yourself.

Looks like I made a poor arguement :coy:. This is where the info is from if anyone cares EVO/STI wind tunnel tests - TunerNetwork.com Forums . Basically all I was going for was the fact that just because a wing is OEM doesn't mean it isn't ricey. What are the wind tunnel results for the Turbo DSM wing?

the reason the kaminari wing is rice on a dsm is because in my opinion it flows very poorly with the cars factory body lines and would seem greatly out of plase. where as the factory turbo wing looks like it just belongs there .
