Alright I have a stock sized K&N filter for my 1g. I need to set up intake straight to the turbo. I want to use this filter since it seems to be the perfect size, its a K&N and it cost me $50. The inlet on my turbo is 2 1/4 in. Has anyone fabed up a pipe to fit the 5 1/4 X 5 in outlet on the filter? What would you use to do this? Im thinking sheet metal to get it from the 5 inches to the 2 1/4 diameter. Also any ideas on other good places to have the filter located?

The K&N is a cone filter. I thought about getting a cheapo filter but is the flow difference noticable? I like those MAC cone k&n rip off filters that are 9 inches long with a 3in inlet. Then all I would have to do is get a pipe made that goes from 3in to 2 1/4in. I dont want intake air restrictions to be a problem at all. I already have the 3in mafs but thats not in between the filter and the turbo. Anyone have one of the MAC k&n filters they want to sell/trade?

can you post a pic of the filter? I'm not sure any one knows what your talkin about.

If you're good at fabricating you could probably come up with an intake pipe for about $30. I just added a new filter to my intake pipe I already had.

Instead of being difficult, I just ended up going to fleet farm and getting 2 40 degree elbows made of pvc and a 3" pvc pipe and made a perfect pipe out of it. Bought a cheapo 3" inlet filter and its working awsome. I located it right behind the passenger headlight. Great air flow from wheel well (since i have fmic) and from the headlight area. Cost about 15 dollars, Plus the air filter cost.

I also have a MAF in a blow thru position which allowed me to make a true ColdAirIntake with the filter completely outside the engine bay for access to outside air. It is in the space the stock sidemount was as I have a FMIC also. I have a couple pics but would need your email addy because I use wbtv and cannot post pics.
I have the stock plastic slotted shield behind the fillter and a custom grille in front of it. Pics of the grille available also. I don't drive in the rain with my talon but makng a shield againt water would not be difficult. Mark
