i painted my wheels a while ago, and i didn't like the color, but i never had any time, but this week i found some time, and lifted the car up and got to work,

here's my wheel all cleaned up (aircraft stripper and a pressure washer)

they turned out 100 times better this time, i actually spent time prepping, and used a pressure washer this time (why didn't i think of that before? sanding is bi*** work, and with aircraft stripper, a dirty job that is potentially harmful to your self) <-- i got one little bit of it on my arm and at the end of the night it looked like a nasty mosquito bite...

I thought the two piece GSX wheels came apart  Anyway, It looks hella good. I am in the midst of prepping my stockers for a bronze color.

looks good man, what color is that ? looks like gun metal but does it have a special name ? :thumb:

damn i love how it turned out man!! looks good so post the rims on the car already!!!

Great Job Zach, Your turning into a painting master! Ill be asking for help when i do mine!

the paint is called graphite, i had plasti-kote vehicle paint gunmetal before, i didn't really like it, after i painted them, my mom came in and said "no offense, but the old color made your rims look dirty all the time" so i was happy, because at least they appreciate some of the things i do, a 16G swap with an O2 dump might not be something they like, who knows though, i'm glad they turned out the way they did.. thanks for all of your replies :dsm:

let me calculate the time that i needed to do this.. first day 10:30 p.m. til 4 a.m.... the next day, 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. then 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 a.m.. then yesterday i spent around 2 hours finishing up, umm... 21.5 hours i think.... doesnt seem like it, but time flys by when i am having fun haha, so at $5 an hour... $107.50 for labor, and $30 for supplies... i'm just kidding man, i'd do it for free... polishing the lip though.... i would charge for that ;)

Awesome job man, I did the same in the same color too, LOL. That was almost a year ago though. I agree about the aircraft paint stripper, that stuff is awesome and it sucks at the same time.

Iam not polishing the lip, I will be doing a solid Bronze wheel i think. It will look better with the Barcelona Red i think!

Yeah buddy, although I think I forgot to ask if you had the stock GS-T wheels also. If so, then yeah, solid would look better IMO.

thanks man, yeah i came the that conclusion a while ago, i like either polished aluminum rims, or else gunmetal/hyper black colored rims, on a silver car that is...

Looks good.

To all those out there wanting to paint use the specified wheel paint. They have white, black, graphite, and silver. Also have a clearcoat.

Playing cards,3x5 index cards, and vasoline all help with masking the places you don't want to paint.

That looks real nice man....real nice. :thumb:

haha well looks wise it is perfect. <-- kind of an overstatement.. to me at least... no dents, no big scratches, nothing along those lines, just little nicks on the front bumper from daily use...

Zach, the rims look great! Much better than before. I can't wait to see them in person  I still miss my graphite rims sometime, but the bronze is growing on me and I am glad I chose it. Great pictures also, I need to take some more of my :talon: sometime soon and get them posted. Tell John I said... Hey!!

thanks man, what do you mean better than before? i didn't do a good job? :( ..... haha well i didnt do a good job my 1st and 2nd time, had no idea what prepping was all about, just used a brush and aircraft stripper, and alot of sandpaper, still had spots of old paint sticking up... made me embarrassed to bring my car in anywhere's where they had to take the wheels off, i was waiting for someone to say "hey by the way, who painted your wheels?" i would of say "i did, why?" and they'd laugh and say, "good job buddy :thumb: " and laugh at me, but no one did, so it's behind me now.. i am painting another set now too.... so i came in now for the paint to dry and am ready for a long night again (i already spent 4 hours today pulling my timing belt off, taking my new waterpump off and putting the old one back on, and tensioned it yadda yadda) haven't started it yet though, i don't know why, just something i'll save for tomorrow..i'm out...
