Well...I just got my new downpipe installed!!!:hellyeah: And I was just driven home and gave it a little hell:ohdamn: Soooo soon after that I feel a pop....then I can't find a gear...then the car shuts off...t-belt..nope... I get out and find a puddle of stinky gray liquid...not good..my trans is gone:banghead: So I would like to know if a 2g 5pd turbo trans would work...if not..do you have one laying around you would sell to a fellow DSMer...let me know..Thanks guys.

Sticky gray liquid & a uncommanded engine shutdowm kinda sounds like it might be somthing other than the transmission.

It was gear oil..and my junk yards have no trannys for my car...engine is good...started and reved..kinda hesitated tho..I need to look in to it but did'nt smoke...but have no grab when i tried to put it in to gears...

The only thing I was saying is gear oil is normaly brownish (and yes it does smell bad) The only time I have seen a greyish liquid is when oil&water/coolant get mixed,

Also the 90 is a one year box the external shift arms are different from all other years

its probably gray from not being changed for a long long time. LOL. i know when i drained and replaced the fluid in mine it was a metallic gray which was weird, but i havent had any problems an ive put about 15,000 miles on it since i changed it.

Bet if you call up some JDM supply houses, they can prob find you a good F5M33 transmission for your PLY .. for a decent price.

Mine was grey and stinky as well when I drained it. Syncros were grumpy in all gears. Changed it out for Redline MT-90 and been good and smooth since.

I know the AWD 95-96 2g trannies work in a 1g. Not sure if the FWD's work or not... I think the axles may be different size splines??

I bought a trany from a jdm supplier and they sent me an evo 3 close ratio transmission and i swapped out the final drive with a new one.

the gallant 2wd trans will work..i used a 94-95 2.4 n/t 2wd 5 speed trans in my fwd eclipse ...but you have to modifyi it a lil this is what has to be done one of the starter bolt holes in the trans needs slotted a lil becsause the gallant fas a bigger flywheel than the 1g and then the tranny mount part of the trans needs shaved about 1/8 inch all of this is alot easyer than it seems...and the gearing is alot diffrent which i loved the gearing of it :) and it is very strong about like a shep stage 2 trans
