JIC blows

GMFB. If you run a Scooby through a ditch sideways using parts that are meant for tarmac (not rallying or even rallycross), what do you expect? Or, expressed in a more useful manner: if you buy parts that are optimized for one type of racing (e.g., road racing, such that they are not overbuilt for strength because keeping the weight down is more important), but go use them for another type of racing, don't come whining when they fail.

Or do you also believe that Magnecore wires "blow" because they stop working when you cut them in half?

Yeah, no ditch on the autocross. Cool video too - up until the suspension breaks...

But its looking like he flogged the car elsewhere, which weakened the suspension enough that it broke during the stresses of autox turning. Stuff like this is definitely not healthy for a street setup:

Other examples here and here seem to back Jtoby's point up pretty well. I'm pretty sure that if he hadn't been taking his car on off-road excursions, then nothing would have broken at that autox.

If I have any issues with my FLTA-2 setup, you'll be hearing it first. So far they've been nothing short of excellent.

Let's try to get something useful out of this, rather than just engage in more pissing.

Look at the picture to which I pointed above. What is the driver doing wrong? (Hint: look at the front wheels.)

Answer: He is not turning into the slide/spin.

Turning in is not only the best way to recover, but it has an important safety advantage. When the wheels are turned into the slide, they can roll with the ground. So, if the wheel encounters a rough spot, they will be more likely to roll over it and less likely to catch on it and roll the car.

Sometimes sliding sideway with the wheels still pointed forward doesn't go so far as to roll the car, but merely puts a nasty shock through the suspension.

And when all you have are struts, that nasty shock acts on the shock, including the bit at the bottom that connect the shock to the knuckle.

As in: the bit the broke on this car sometime later.

AHHH HAAAA! More proof to bring people to my side

People didnt wanna look at my dyno results so maybe that will teach a thing or two.

As far as the parts not being rally specific agrgument goes? well lets just say I have seen plenty of standard 40mm bilsteins, Hotbits, KYB agx's and others take LOTS of rally abuse and not fail in a horrific manner such as that.... I have been building/designing and testing dampers for the last 5 years and have never seen such a thing before!

But thats what happens when you try to play with street pimper parts

I don't know, Larry; when scores of AGX users report failures on BOTH sides of a 2G after a couple years highway driving, I'd tend to want to call AGX's street pimper parts.

On my 6,000 mile-per-year car, mine gave out in measly 250lb springs. By the time I took em off, both sides had oil all over the spindles and the insides of the wheels, and the rods were flopping around like fish on a sidewalk.

Im not saying that AGX's are racing shocks or that they are great, but simply I have never seen a damper fail in that manner.... even on the FEW rally cars that ran AGX's.....

And yes KYBs have junk seals.... They should be protected with a boot of sorts to keep the dirt from munching......

I guess I just want every thing to take the abuse that I put into shocks.... This is a photo from testing of my car..... Camber plates bent.......70mph
