Did some searching but I just want to be 100% sure that THIS is the FRONT DRIVER SIDE AXLE (I don't have any manuals and such..) so I know what this part is surely called:

I can try to replace/fix this problem myself but I don't have the time..

Q's:
1) Is the names in red pointing to it's CORRECT piece/part?

2) I've called the dealership ahead of time about a "front driver side axle" replacement and they quoted me at around $377 w/o labor. Is it a Good price?

3) I've searched the forum and found places that sells the axle (raxle, mitsubisiparts.com):
3A) How is the price compared to the dealership? Any OTHER sites you would recommend?
3B) Is the quality BETTER than stock oem parts (for those who have ordered and have experience)?

FOR MILWAUKEE, WI PPL:
4) Any well-known DSM shops around the area that would do this for cheaper than dealership would?

I tried making this quick and simple.. and THANK YOU in advance :)

What you are looking at is the CV Shaft or more commonly called the axle. So yes it is the frount axle, but to be on the safe side call it a CV Shaft. Some times it is also called a halfshaft.

Yes....that is your front drivers side axle...and you can get it from your local foreign car parts dealer...If not then try autozone...keep in mind that you will have warrantys as well...

yep, that's the inner cv boot, and that's the axle, $377 sounds ridiculous to me, espeically for the driver side cause you don't even have to drain the tranny, you said you can try but you don't have the time? it's not that tough, I just did it, I didn't replace the axle though, I took it apart and rebuilt the inner end (consists of taking off a c-clip and cleaning with brake cleaner) and put on a new boot, if your boot hasn't been broken very long you can just replace it, and not the whole axle, for a whopping $15 or so. very simple, check out vfaq, but the suspenion is different on your 95 than shown in vfaq, if you want to do it yourself let me know, I think I got the easiest way to do it down..but if you want to have it done just take it to any reputable shop, I'm no pro but I don't think axle/cv setups differ much between cars, it's not a job that requires DSM expertise.. I think down there in the states you can get axles for $60-80, maybe 2 hours at a shop, $180 maybe...

just get another one from mitsubishi wear house.. there like 60 some dollars.. dont get it from mitsubishi. and make sure its abs.

You could get an upgraded one. Fidanza makes some. Check out machv.com.

Since you're in wisconsin, I suggest going to widsm.org forums and registering there. Someone on there might help you replace it for a small fee or out to bar.

silly but i have to ask...how much hp can the stock axles hold until they break, what kind of hp do some of you guys got with the stock axles on your cars????

It's not a matter of how much HP. It's how much torque. Torque is usually what breakes shit.

They are $53 from Autozone and come with a lifetime warranty. They only take about 20 minutes to change, so even if you break it (which is unlikely until you are well into the 400 hp range) you aren't really out anything but an hours worth of time.
