i am now the proud owner of a 90 Eclipse GSX and its awsome!!! i just have a small question, is it normal for the factory boost gauge to go down to -7 psi while im taking off and then spooling up to about 10 psi???

yes, it sitting under vac at idle, and spooling as you go. Read around and install yourself an aftermarket boost gauge. The stock ones, aren't very reliable/accurate. And welcome to the family!

Think I read that wrong so i'll toss an edit in. Not "normal" as in what it's supposed to do bounce from -7 straight to 10 as your getting to WOT. But again, anything is normal for a stock gauge as they really do what they want. The FAQ section, and search feature are great on this site. They will become your best friends. I'd go ahead and change it.

There are a lot of things, as a new DSM owner you need to be aware of and watch religiously. I mean drive it to the ground if you want, but I suggest reading everything you can in the VFAQ section.... or you could have a really cool lawn ortament

Ya, the stock boost gauge isnt even a generalization. Its more like a fancy "factory" gauge. It usually reads 10 psi different, or -10 VAC difference wherever you are. Get a mechanical one. Read up on the install if you are in need of assistance. Good luck man enjoy the car.

Congrats on the new car make sure you do the proper maintenance to the car before you start upgrading or else your going to end up spending more money in the long run. Do your research and have fun. Like these other guys said definitely get an aftermarket boost gauge, it'll tell you a lot more than that stock junk. Nice buy!! www.vfaq.com is good take a peek

Congrats on the car! I would reccomend an aftermarket boost gauge... Way more accurate, and have you done free mods yet? If not, I would also do those! Good luck and welcome!
