Is this G-tech thing forreal?

How can they sell this for that much? g-tech pro

It just plugs in to your cig lighter and then gives you "surprisingly accurate" hp and torque readings along with e/t times and a bunch of other information that I'm sure is worth it

Here is the manual, in case you are interested. It seems the whole system is based on 2 things: your RPM of the cig lighter, and some g readings from the unit itself (in addition to settings like car weight etc)

My friend had an auto 94 Delsol with CAI and exhaust and ran a 17.9 at the track and also ran a 17.9 on a gtech. Seems acurate to me.

I have the g-tech pro its awsome, Its also very usefull because it has a build it shiftlight aswell as it measures lateral G's

Thought you guys might want to know that at my home track (palmdale) they were testing the GTECH on a new M3 that had about 30 GTECH units mounted inside the car. It looked like they were doing good research on the product so who knows?

i used one, and didn't think it did to bad.

i also had my exact weight because my brother worked at a scrap yard so i pulled on the scale.

but another good use is, if you have a challenge on who can drive better

We JUST went over this. And yes, everyone in the thread said it was pretty accurate.

I don't know if it's worth the money, but it's definitely accurate. A couple of guys I know very carefully took it out of the package it was in, used it a couple times to get some #'s on their car, put in back in the package and returned it for full money back. I don't know if this was a G-Tech, but it did the same thing. Just something to think about

My GS-T dyno was 275whp and 272tq. I haven't been 2 the track yet though. we tested it for HP accuracy

The G-Tech gave me this

60 ft - 2.4 281HP 248TQ
1/4 mile - 13.4 @ 116 mph

My friend was in the car when we did it(we added his weight into the G-Tech), I was going around that speed when the G-Tech stopped.

It was 24 ft lbs off for torque, and hp was 6 over, that was close though

But 2 add to add to it, i beat an Evo VIII from a light the next day

On the other hand,

My friend with his TSi AWD ran on the G-Tech and it gave him over 400HP

1.8 60 ft 12.1 @ 113

Now 1/4 he would KILL me AWD vs FWD, plus he flat shifts i don't, but we are pretty even from a roll.

I'll have to wait till its warmer to get onto a track, but for AWD cars i don't know if i trust the accuracy of the G-Tech
