Hey everyone,

I searched.. but couldn't find anything on this topic. I used to drive a Del Sol and a Mazda MX6 and on both cars it was possible to relocate the heating controls. (wires had extra slack, allowing the controls to be moved up to 1-2 feet away from their original location.) I'm looking to complete a custom project, and I need the space where my heating controls are. I was thinking of dropping them down to where say the bottom storage compartment right near the shifter would be. Is this possible?

If memory recalls the hot/cool and the posistions are controlled via cable...not wires which would be hard to move, I tried it in my galant, but when you get longer cables you run into tons of probs...like the cablesno moving, bunching, binding etc

He probably meant "push-pull wires" when he posted, not electric wires. They aren't "cables" like the shifter.

You can always get longer control wires. As long as you can avoid sharp bends, and within reason, it doesn't matter how long they wind up. Longer = more friction from the wire moving inside the shroud, so you'll eventually run into trouble there- but not if they're still on the dash.

I tried to put mine in my center console on a galant, and it failed horiably b/c of the friction would overcome the sliding action and the cable would just bind, if you can get slide cables that are covered in pastic istead of wirewrapped it may work.
