Is it possible to install overdrive on a gs?

I do a ton of interstate driving and god knows the base tranney cant handle going 80 without killing your gas tank. Is it even possible to install my own overdrive?

You can get a taller EVO 5th gear installed. I had one put in my tranny from TRE. That will keep your rpms lower when in 5th gear.

I mainly did it because I have an Apexi N1 exhaust that was rather loud and droning when in 5th gear on the highway. My exhaust is now much quieter with the taller 5th gear. For slower driving in 5th gear around 50-60 mph, the rpms are between about 2k-2.5k. Although when going 80 mph, the rpms I believe are still over 3k and the exhaust is starting to get loud again.

Yes i think that is possible.But overdrives are usually close in rpm with the gear below it.Not much difference.The fifth gear you want will probably be smaller in diameter.Just dismantle your tranny,and search which 5th gear would work swell.
^^Said that the evo gear would be working right.So try to research that

yea i just didnt know if my car had the horses to push a longer 5th and i was wondering if anyone had done it. thanks
