interior neon light wiring

i got the neon lights that plug into your cig lighter. but i wanna wire them into my cars electrical system so i can eliminate the plugs, and hide the lights so they look alot better and all. has anyone does this or know exactly how to do this and is so PLEASE help me out.

cut the lighter end off and if one side has a white strip that should be the positive just find a 12v accessory or ignition source and ground the negative to the chassis, or any other ground

The problem with doing that is that usually cig sockets have a fuse built in to the tip, if you cut that male end off you will be running the lights unfused, and you could end up causing serious problems/fires if they should ever go bad.

Go buy a cig lighter extension plug, cut off the female end and splice it in to your ignition harness. You could also wire in an inline switch if you wanted to.

No twist caps, butt connectors or cutting the ignition harness lines though. Solder & tape only.

I might get flamed for this but i have a tube under the dash on each side. Its wired into the lights that come on when you open the door. You cant see the tubes unless you stick your head on the floor and look up. Theyre really bright and the install is pretty clean.

You can wire them into the cig lighter socket without any problems. Theres a fuse in that circut so if you were to ground it out, you wont have a problem with fires or anything. All its gonna do is pop the fuse.

Buy a thing called an add a circuit from autozone or advanced auto. they let you tap into any existing fuse and add a new one.

ok thanks for the website thats exactly what i needed. i didnt kno9w how to do that stuff. my last and only question is can someone give me steps onto getting the dash apart so i can actually wire it?

like what do i have to unscrew and take off to get to this?
