Hello I am having trouble looking for opinions or to see if anyone has a ets street intercooler style intercooler short route setup. I have one on my car it is 3" thick and 7" tall and 30+ inches tall. I am going to run a hx40 on 35+ psi of boost, and was wondering if I need to run a larger intercooler or just add meth. This is not my first build and I do have all the parts to run this setup. Just wondering since I am running straight e85 and not a 50/50 mix. If I can get away with running this intercooler for now. I know e85 burns alot cooler. If not I plan on using a 2g short route intercooler off ebay. I had great power on my last car on a modified intercooler. Thanks for any help.

Depends on how efficient the core is? But by the dimensions it sounds like a simple street intercooler. I would imagine the e85 will help you out with knock if this thing does get heat soaked from poor efficiency. Try it out and see if it works, if not buy your eBay one and try that, but most of the ebay intercoolers are pretty inefficient as well. Most people on here will agree the best intercoolers have garret cores. Buy from reputable a vender and remember your usually get what you pay for. A good intercooler will not be cheap like ebay.

Thanks I planned on running it. Core seems nice I used a 2g ss autochrome one on my last talon and made 480awhp on buschur dyno. Trying to find a good deal on ets 5" race intercooler. Or just find a nice core and weld on my own end tanks.
Whats the differece in intercooler cores other than bar and plate or tube and fin?
I have seen expensive ones and cheap ones and dont see a difference other than quality of welds and endtanks.

I'm not sure the differences in the cores other than what you mentioned, but everyone tends to agree about the Garrett core. Maybe someone with more info will chime in and inform us.

I'd go with meth anyways.. It'll help reduce knock, on a hard pull or even passing a car.. All around I would recommend meth for a stock turbo car even

On a stock car is a bit overkill.

The ETS core is great, but if it will work or not for you I'm not sure.

I would call ETS and ask their opinion.

As for the difference in cheap and high quality cores there are a few factors. The biggest visually noticeable factor is that high quality cores have more surface space (fins) to dissipate heat. Size and depth play a large role as well as air flow.
