Once i start driving and boosting alittle the intercooler gets really warm and the cat as well (It heats up the floor!).
The water temp stays in the middle and the fan turns on when i stop. The radiator hoses feel really hot too but that might be normal.

The car is stock with a 3" catback

Any help would be appreciated!

ok if your cat heats up that hot... it may be cause you dont have the heatshield... unless your cat is clogged... check at night and see if it turns red hot... if so the you have a bad cat...

I do have heatshields. Ill check if the cat gets red at night thanks

The cat doesn't get red but its alot hotter than the downpipe. I'll put a test pipe in and see. I appreciate you help

I put the testpipe on and the exhaust still heats up the floor. The radiator hoses are crazy hot like before. Is there a temp sensor?

My exhaust heatshield is rusty so there is a big hole and i removed the carpet 'padding' since i washed the carpet. Can that cause the carpet too warm up after i do a few pulls?

Everyone that looks at my engine says that it feels way too hot, is it possible that the gauge does not work properly?

The sidemount gets alittle hot too...and then the car feels alittle slower or its just my imagination. But hot air is less dence = slower car.

the padding is an insulator...of heat and sound. i cut my downpipe right before the cat and put a truck tail pipe that shoots down, and my center console area and the floor are hot as hell.

a rich mixture would cause that because the excess hydrocarbons would be burning up by the cat.

Just because the temp gauge is showing normal, doesnt mean the car is totally ok. I just went through a cooling issue where I had like 90% water/10%coolant in my system at one point (in a dire situation) and the gauge still said I was normal but the car was running way too hot. I'd say check and/or flush your system to get fresh liquids in there to help disperse more heat.

Also the hoses were hot you said, were they feeling hard or under a lot of pressure? Your cooling system might be holding in too much pressure. Search: radiator hose popping off and check that out if you are having pressure build up in yours.

This all pretty much sounds like normal operation to me. When you get in the boost your exhaust is going to get hot quickly. Also your intercooler pipes are going to get warm/hot too, especially with a stock sidemount. And that hot intercooler will make the car feel slower because the air is less dense like you said turbo_dsm. As far as the car feeling hot and others saying it feels hot.... Yeah, these engines do put off alot of damn heat. Any turbo car will put off more heat than an N/A car.;)
more air and more fuel = more heat

A bad coil or spark plug could cause the cat to heat up, if there are excess unburned gas in the exhaust stream, it will cause the cat to do the extra work of burning it, causing it to turn red if its severe enough, it will also give off a rotten egg scent to it
