Intake gasket

Alright heres the deal, I have a 97 gst that I just put a rebuilt head from a 95 talon on. It was runniung like shit and I traced it back to a leak in the intake manifold gasket. So i got a new felpro gasket and when installed the gasket missesd the edge and doesnt line up same as the other gasket, and heres the question, What is the differance between a first and second gen intake manmifold and could this be the problem?

1st gen gasket has way bigger holes for the runners. I put a 2g head on my car and compared it to the 1g gasket, pretty big difference. It should line up fine, just has taller ports. I am not sure what you mean by "missed the edge" maybe you could post pics.
