Are the intake and exhaust cams identical? I'm wondering if I can just buy the 264 for exhaust now, buy the 272 later and put the 264 on the intake side. I can't see why they would be different.?.?

The timing on them where the dowel pin is different. Just get both of them at the same time. If they are on back order still then go with the FP1 or 2 cam set.

They are not interchangeable. If you look at the lobes, especially at the nose. Both have very different ramp angles, the gentle peak at the nose is at opposite sides due to inlets and exhausts having differring purposes.
