I just received my wideband today, I'm going to put in the rear o2 poition. I was wonderin how you guys ran your cabling from that spot to inside the car. I was just going to go through the same hole the stock o2 wires go through but the plug won't fit. I was wondering because I obviously don't want the wires hanging. If I were to go through that hole where and how do you get to the wires and hole from the inside? Do you have to take the seat out? Need some ideas.

Thanks,

Any tricks for taking that o2 sensor off? It's on there extremely hard unless I'm turning it the wrong way(couter clockwise).
Spray it with water...This should help... Dont ask how...

Stock O2 hole will fit if you make it little wider with the drill...

did drill out the hole so the small plug that goes to the gauge or drill it out big enough for the big plug that connects right after the sensor?

Right now I have the big plug sitting on top of the heat shield above the exhaust. Would this get to hot for me to set the plug on top of or not?

Big enough so your sensor would go thru, from the top....

When I installed my wideband I used a long 22mm wrench after letting it idle for 10 minuets and it came off very easy. When you're at the access hole under the drivers seat just use some pliers to bend the hole toward the ground. Then slide the sensor from inside the car down the hole, then bend it back, cut the rubber grommet off the rear o2 and use it on the new o2 sensor.

Being that I have a 1g and therefore no rear o2 sensor, I don't know how far back the sensor is, but shouldn't a wideband o2 be pretty close to the turbo? Like in the downpipe section?

You should put a wideband O2 sensor just before the catalytic converter on a 1G. This will require you to weld in a new O2 sensor bung in your downpipe, back there. If you put it in the stock location, it is too close to the turbo and will not last because it is too hot.

Right now I have the plug sitting on top of that hea shield that is over the ehaust. Do you think it will get to hot there and I need to worry or shoudl I be alright. It sas in the instructions that it shouldn't be hotter than 800 degrees.

Be carefull that you dont burn the wiring, sensor will need to get hot anyway just dont put it to close to the turbo.... read this

I think I blew a fuse last night, if not I don't know what I did. I can't get my radio to turn on. the fuse in the engine bay blew so I changed that one, but it still won't come on. I also noticed my turbo timer wasn't coming on until I turned the kay the "ON" position. Can't remember but I thought it also came on when I had it in the "ACC" position.

Also when I turn my lights on the Wideband gauge turns off. If I have the gauge grounded with the ground that is running to the lights would this cause that?

For the turbo timer when it would turn on would depend on what you tapped into for power. For the wideband ground you should use its own chassis ground. If you didn't want to mod the factory O2 hole to pass the sensor through, you can always pass it through the rubber boot around the steering column. This is where I put mine through, but that location worked better for me as my sensor bung is welded half way between the flex section & cat converter.

I have a greddy turbo timer and it had a plug that came with it and all I had to do was put in between an existing one. No wires to splice. What about the radio problem is there another fuse somewhere I need to check out?

Check the fuse on the radio itself(on the back), chances are that one blew as well.

This would require you to have to pull the radio off, its in the back. The fuse on the back of the radio blew on mine, and mine didnt turn on either!!! I also changed the fuse to a stronger one, I think I replaced a 10 with a 20.

I would ground out to its the chassis now where your lights groudn out. Like daren said

Good idea to check the fuse on the radio itself, but should never repace a blown fuse for one with a higher current rating. They use a specific size fuse to protect all the components on that circuit. Use a larger fuse and you can damage the circuit, or worse could possibly start a fire. If you replace a blown fuse with the correct one and it blows again, you should trouble shoot to see whats causing the fuse to blow, not replace it with a larger one.

Yea thanks for your help, I'm sorry but I didnt' mention this, last night I did check that fuse on the back of the radio and it was ok. There isn't a fuse that would be for "ACC" itself since I think the turbo timer is suppose to come on then and it's not. I might just be mistaken though and htat would be a big fuse so I doubt it. Do you guys have anyother ideas. Otherwise I'm going to check the power and ground again I guess.

I've heard for the most accurate readings it should be 36 inches away from the turbo and into the flow of exhaust. Don't ask my why and if you need verification i'll get off my ass and show you where i sourced it.

After installing it I messed up one of the wires and now my gauge cluster won't light up and Ican't get my radio to work. When I turn on my headlights the amp gets power. REally weird stuff is there a fuse for the gauge cluster somewhere?

You should have a friend come over and help you with the electrical part of your car, and have him help you diagnos(sp?) your problem.

I never do the electrical work on my car, I always have a friend who is a GREAT when working with electrical components.

But you should have someone with you to see if he can spot something wrong you did. Just an idea. :thumb: :thumb:

Thats what I'm starting to think, my bro is coming back tonight so I'm going to have him check everything over for me. I think it might have something to do with the black and yellow wire being hooked up to my radio ground. I think this is part of the dimmer does anyone know where this is suppose to be connected to.
