Ok I just bought a super 16g from a friend and I need to know what I need to buy to install it on my 95 GST

It came w/ the elbow to bolt to stock smic piping for my 2g, and it came w/ the exhaust housing and o2. From all I can see, it looks ported quite well.

What are all the things I need to buy to install this turbo?

BTW I'm installing this w/ a johnnyracecar fmic and I have my pipes made and they should fit, so I've got the IC pipes part down. I just need whatever else is left..

I'm gonna post pics in just a minute, they will be at http://away.no-ip.com/gallery under the cars section..

You'll need a new manifold to turbo gasket, probably a 7cm diameter one since you said the turbo is ported, and a new oil feed line. You said it came with the "O2" so you may or may not need a new turbo-to-O2 Housing gasket. You'll want (not absolutely NEED but it's a good idea) a new bolt to replace the one stud that holds the turbo to the exhaust manifold.

Check the VFAQ for 16G install articles-- they're very useful.

I think the only other thing that doug didn't mention is that you need a steel braided oil line and coolant line.

I dont need the spacer that goes between the mani and the head?

So I need these things:

SS Oil Drain line
SS Oil Feed Line
SS Coolant line

Mani-turbo gasket.

Why would I need that 1 bolt?
Also I said "What I can see is ported." I should have just specified that all I can see is the o2 opening and that other opening in the exhaust side that connected to the manifold, and that looks ported, sorry guys. I can't actually tell if the turbo itself is ported.

Also the 7cm in diameter, what kinda measurement is that? Thickness? Diameter of each hole? Sorry I'm tryin to clarify a few misunderstood things w/ how I think about that gasket.

if you go to hrc website and look at the install kit for the super16...and the spacer for the head to mani is for clearance of the 10cm housing (and yes...you should have it). you do not absolutly need to buy install kit from hrc (just check what is required) but i can tell you it will come with everything you need to put that turbo on (all gaskets, spacers, studs, nuts, lines, ect) except for a gasket between the turbo adapter and manifold (they say you do not need it, but i am leary about metal to metal sealing such as that). oh yea...i am doing the same thing...hope to have it done by end of feb-first of march (married, so these things take a little longer than for a single man).

Just for the record, I did mention the oil feed line, I just didn't call it SS braided. :thumb: You can check for one on eBay; they have the same ones on there that RRE sells, but cheaper of course. I got mine from RRE and it was around $55.

7cm is the diameter of the opening in the middle of the gasket. Just measure the turbine inlet diameter to see how wide it is. After looking at the Hahn web site, though, it looks like they may be using a different style gasket-- you may want to ask them what you need. It looks like a T3/T4 style.

I don't think you need the head-to-manifold gasket, but if you feel better about replacing it, it's completely up to you.

You don't need any coolant lines unless this Super 16G is unlike all the other 16Gs. You may need a little extra rubber hose that you can get at an auto parts store for around $1 a foot. You don't need another drain line if you're willing to enlarge the holes on your stock one to fit. It's in the VFAQ.

Like I said, you don't NEED that one turbo bolt, but it'll just make things easier whenever you have to either take off the manifold again or remove the turbo again.

But how does that necessitate different coolant lines from a normal 16G?

it might not...this is my first turbo swap so i was just letting him know that the hrc super16 IS a little different than a normal 16g turbo. plus with the 10cm housing and required spacer plate between the exhaust mani and head...plus adapter plate between turbo and ex mani...

any idea what kind of dp i would need? It says on the website that i would need they're dp and all that bs heh.

I have the HRC super 16g turbo and install kit, you can use your own dp with some fabrication. I fabbed mine but I have to drop it to get the oil filter off  I will probably buy the HRC dp or a relocator for the filter.
