I am posting this for a friend. He recently bought a '91 eclipse GSX. After doing all the maintenace he needs to upgrade his fuel system. As of now the car has a super 16'g on it with no fuel upgrades. In the future(8 months) he plans on upgrading to a fp3052 turbo. He wants to upgrade the fuel system now to get more power before track season. Here is his rough idea of the setup:

Walbro 255lph with rewire
3" GMAF with translator
Aeromotive Afpr
850cc Injectors

He doesnt want to buy DSM link now. Is there any other advice on how to tune the injectors? Socketed and Chipped Ecu?

If he has an EPROM ecu, the chip would probably be the best bet. If it was me, I'd not buy the MAF and translator, and use that money on DSM Link.

DSM Link is nice, but i prefer an Ostrich and TunerPro RT. Its much cheaper @ $200 and does just as much if you know what you are doing. You can also skip the MAFT and go with a speed density setup, for around $80. Say good bye to boost leaks making your car run like crap, can use a better BOV like a 50 mm Tial without recirculating, and throttle response is much better. :thumb:

I dont understand why more people haven't made the switch.

PM me if you need more info

Unless he just can't say no to venting his blow off valve, tell him to stay away from the MAFT.. It's a PITA...

p.s. MAFT gen 2 only compensates for +60% (older ones 50%), good to 720ccs'. Factory enrichment over 2.1g/rev is +55% stoch, so unless he likes black smoke and rich knock, go with diffrent injectors, or diffrent mangment system...

Don't forget about kissing your turbo good bye as well.

Well, of coarse a LARGE boost leak will kill your turbo fast! But you should notice it before any damage is done. If you don't, your a MORON.

Nope, the moronic part is the assumption that boost leaks no longer matter in a blow through setup in the first place. :p

Thats not how i meant it....but i understand where you are coming from. I just remember blowing an IC pipe off the IC and the car would barely run with the MAS setup. With my SD setup, i have blown it twice, and each time i was able to drive it to my shop with out an issue.
