Injector pintles for stock injectors?

Do I need the plastic caps(injector Pintles or whatever)on the end for the stock injectors? I remember them being on my larger PTE Injectors but I cant remember if their needed on the stock 450cc's, thanks

The pintle is the tiny metal part that moves opening and closing the injector. The plastic part that covers the lower bit of the injector is call the pintle cap. The 1G injectors had a simple black single hole cap and the 2G 450's a green two hole cap that fit over the injectors single pintle. The cap helps form the spray pattern so a 1G injector has a single cone coming from the pintle where a 2G 450 has two cones spreading out from the injector to the valves. They used the same type on dual hole cap on the 3000GT and Stealth from their introduction claiming that it provided fuel economy and performance advantages and started using them on DSM's with the introduction of the 95 2G.

Other injector have different style caps or none at all.

Besides forming the spray pattern they are also used to mate with the injector insulator to help seal the injector in the head.

So yes you should have them on stock 450s.
