right now i have a 91 eclipse n/a im planning on buying another dsm. probably a eclipse gsx (90-94). i know alot about the non-turbo cars. but i know nothing about turbos. And before i buy one i want to learn as much as i can. so i figure the first thing i want to do before i buy this car is check out the car to see even if its worth buying. is their anyway to check the turbo and everything else that goes with it.thats pretty much all im asking. thanx

id recommend taking a buddy so one can follow you around while you test drive it and watch for smoke. depending on color of smoke determines if there is a problem. if cel is on ask to run a code obviously... sounds dumb but a lot of ppl just take the sellers word for it, on whats wrong. take your time and inspect all vacuum hoses, fasteners, and look for rust. if you really wanted you could ask to pull the plugs and check them out, while your at it you could run compression test. good luck :talon:

1. take off intake pipe
2. grab end of turbo compressor shaft
3. wiggle

if there is any side to side, up and down, or in and out motion it is on its way out. if its just a little (as in very little) its ok.

thanx guys.
is it true the eclipse gsx are some type of car that is going to be worth money down the road.becuz if i plan on suping it up at least go to stage 1 is it going to take value off of the car. like my 91 has a custom blue and black interior and i would like to swap it out but would i be better off just leaving it the color it already is and leave the original int original
