hello all, i live in SE Oklahoma and have a 99 eclipse rs. iv order the wings west aggressor front with street scene sides and back, i have 17" rims with 225/45 Nitto Extremes and need suspension. im not going to race race, but mess with people in town, and show it at car shows. should i do the pro kit with 5 way illumina, or is the tein flex and ss setups that much better ? money isnt really a factor. i dont want it to set to low cause of where i live. i was also wondering how hard it is to adjust the coilovers that tein has and how long it takes. (btw, nothing is on my car yet, it is all stored in our shop till i get everything, so i dont know how low it will sit with the body kit). i dont want air cylinders, i have a bagged truck on 20's, and i hate it, why you think i bought a second vechile ? heh . any info would be of great help, THANKS

I really think your making a terrible comparison but I'll answer any questions about the TEIN Flex's you may have. I can't bash the other setup because I don't know anything about it's ride quality or how low it is. Adjustability (on the TEINS) is cake and the EDFC is wonderful, in the right situation. I used to live in the midwest so I know how the roads are. Take into consideration the size of wheel and tires you are going to put on. USE a camber kit, save your tread!! Look into JIC's also if your going the coilover route. Let me know if you have any questions....

Iv heard the EDFC cant be used up front ? Also , what is JIC ? Does the ingalls camber kit for front and the $15 dollar mod for rear work ? sorry, im new to import scene, and i want the best for my car, and i also take it to say screw the spring/shock setup and go all out tein ? thanks

I would buy the TEIN's again, I've had 2 different spring/shock setups in the past and was never real happy with them. The EDFC does work up front, I slightly remember a post a long time ago saying they don't work because of a fitment issue, but that isn't the case. I would use specialty products (camber bolts in the front and any rear camber kit seems to be about the same). www.specprod.com Do a search for JIC suspension, they seem to be popular with the road race people also.

thank you very much for your info and advice, i will be going with the tein setup and edfc

Note: when ordering the Flex for a 2G, you can ask for 10KG/8KG instead of the default 10KG/7KG springs and this should be for no extra charge. Do this. Unless you like understeer, of course.

when u say kg, what does that mean ? and is the flex better then the ss ? THANKS

rsquared what sort of camber kits are you running in the front and rear with your teins

Are you serious? The 2g is front heavy. Just because you have a high rate in the front doesn't mean it will understeer. Any real suspension experience will tell you this.

I set the TEIN's to there specification. I tried the Specialy Prodcuts (www.specrod.com) anchor bolts but as soon as the car is lowered off the jack, the upper control arms dig into the inner fender. I sent them back and got the ball joints-worked perfectly, as did the rears.

Front-part number is 67370
Rear-part number is 73620

"Perfect" tire wear for 1000 miles.

I did not know that a good driver had experience with both a 10/8 Flex setup and a 10/7 Flex setup and could say with such authority that the former didn't have less understeer.

Thank you, igs, for stepping in and setting me straight. You see, I only have back-to-back experience with (approximately) 10/8 and 10/7 on Konis with GC sleeves, which clearly demonstrated less understeer with the higher rear rates. I did not realize that the subtle differences between a Koni low-pressure twin-tube and a Tein low-pressure twin-tube were so large as to make my direct experience irrelevant here.

So, again, thanks, igs, for providing us with a summary of your direct experience.

Of course higher rears will give you less understeer. Even my dog knows that. What is your point?

Why don't you just get 10/50 genius.

Actually, the stock rates on the Type Flex are 10/6, not 10/7. So 10/8 would be a MAJOR change. You're talking about going from 336 lb/in springs to 448 lb/in springs in the back. I can see how that would get rid of some understeer. (understatement?)

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a change for the good, I guess it depends what you are doing. I think JToby is talking from an autocross perspective.

I'm personally going to use my Tein Flexs for drag racing and street use, so I think I'll just stick with the standard setup, as softer in back is better for drag racing.

FYI, the Tein specs can be found here: http://www.tein.com/mitsubishi.html
