Recently my car has been stumbling on itself at higher boost levels. I replaced the plugs and wires and it still has the same problem. I know its a spark problem. I have done some research but only see discussions about the MSD dis2 or a moderator saying no ignition upgrades are needed on these cars. Well fact being is that I do need an upgrade of some kind because I have tried different stock coils and I have the same problem. I am running NGK plugs gapped at .27 and new NGK wires.

I was looking into upgrading the coil but after some looking around I dont see any coils that are upgradable for these cars. Coming from my V8 background I just got a high output MSD coil and MSD distributor and called it good. Is there anything other than the MSD dis2 or other brand ignition box's that I can get to help? Im not looking into spending 250-350 bucks on this upgrade.

EDIT:
I found an MSD coil at horsepower freaks. Is it any good? any reviews on it?

Im not sure whats up with my coil pack? I may have two bad ones for all I know but since I will need a new one why not upgrade? So all help is appreciated....

Thanks

i beleive if your reffering to the 2nd one down its for a na but i may be wrong but sure looks like the oem one. if your serious you could look at the slow boy coil on plug setup, or possaibly create something new.

what boost are you running to make the stock setup fail, as said most people say the stock setup is fairly good for a super spark.

you dont need ignition upgrades. Im not sure why you went 2 heat ranges colder with your plugs, but goto a BPR7es and gap to .028. If you still have problems, its not ignition, it could very well be a hesitation from poor tuning, possibly running too rich etc.

yea that msd coil on hp freaks....does that replace our coil pack...no right ?...im not really to sure...as i never really read into any ignition upgrades...due to the fact of how stout they are....its jus i treat my car like a baby and every lil thing i can get for it...will only make it run better..and last longer...and for 60 bucks or w/e it is...who cares...weve all went threw tons more money then that....but where does that msd coil thing bolt to..on the firewall.. etc ??.... :dsm:

ngk8's are also much more likely to foul out. NGK7's will be plenty fine to run 19psi even on crappier gas. All in the tune.
