Tomorrow I'm getting keys made for the doors to my 91 by bringing in the lock cylinder to the hatch, but then I remembered that the ignition key to my 96 also opens the hatch. Are the locks on the doors and hatch of a 1g the same? thanks

I doubt it. Mine are the same. A key doesn't work in one try lubing it. I've had bad luck with a lot of cars having stuck hatch/trunk latches.

Could also be you've got what they call a Valet Key. Fortunately, I've got the Original ignition key and a Valet key for my car.

The Valet key operates the ignition and driver's side door, where the Original obviously operates everything on the car [hatch, glovebox, etc.].

I too have had to stick some PB blaster in the hole with the little red straw to lube up the cylinders...
After getting in on the passenger side for a few days it was a priority
