Oakville,
Hi, I have a 92 Talon 2.0 non turbo, does anyone know what the easiest way to
remove the ignition coil is? maybe this is a basic question but I am not sure should
I remove the fuel rail or is there a simple way to get to it.

thanks I need some help...

Bob

I take it you ignition coil is in the space between the intake manifold and the fuel rail? If so you can remove that coil with out taking out the fuel rail from what I hear. All though I had to take the fuel rail out to get to mine. But I am sure it is possable it just takes time and some good maeuvers to get it out. Also if you end up pulling out the fuel rail remeber replace the O rings on the injectors if they come lose. Prepare to swear :thumb:

92 Talon 251, thanks for the response if you read this thread again, did you relieve the
pressure in your fuel system or did you just disconnect the negative on your battery, because my car doesn't start so disconnecting the connector to the fuel pump and starting the car to let it die does me no good.

thanks

Yes I disconnected the neg battery cable and relieved the fuel pressure by takeing off the fuel preassure regulator. I used shop rags to catch the gas. BUT there is another way just relieve pressure. Go to the other side of the fuel rail and follow the hose to the fuel fillter mounted on the firewall and dissconect the TOP hose. Rags still might be needed to catch gas if the car doesnt run and it has been sitting a while like more than a week there should be no fuel pressure. Better safe than sorry.

hey as far as I know you don't have to take the fuel rail off, I replaced the ignition coil pack on my car an I didn't have to remove the fuel rail, the only thing that I have to move a lil bit was the injector wires, the ones that go on top of the intake manni' I think it's three lil screws(for the injector wire harness) and then remove the screws on the coil pack, and thats it. . good luck

This is correct dont make things harder than they are. I would try my damnest to remove it with out touching to fuel system. The only reason I took out the fuel rail was I tryed for 30 mins and got angry and took it out.

Thanks guys,

the power transistor supposedly lies beneath the coil attached to a bracket
near the intake, it is part or the distributorless ignition system, i really don't know
what it does complements the coil somehow???

Bob..

as far as I know the power transistor is under the sparkplug wires, just before they plug to the coil pack, below you con see a plug that connects to a lil thin(power transistor) I think that PT has two or three screws, its easy to remove too.
