So i have searched and searched, but this problem is so confusing for me its driving me crazy! (92 n/t)
So heres whats going on.
When i start the car it idles steady at 2500ish and does not change, even when warmed up. I unplugged the connector under the throttle cable and nothing changed (isc?)
With it plugged back in, i unplugged my maf and my idle dropped to 1400 steady, but threw a cel and seemed to run rougher..but still reved smooth and quickly.

I dont have any vacume leaks and ive change my maf 3 times, please help! could it be the isc? or possibly fuel pressure reg? :banghead:

ya ive read that like twice, the only work ive done recently is a solid intake pipe, timing belt and gaskets on the pully side of motor, nothing that should effect my idle..

solid intake pipe

This might if you took any part of the throttle body off. Possible gasket leak, incorrect idle settings etc. The most glaring part of the post to me is the idle over 1500. The ecu will not allow an idle over 1500rpm IF and and restate IF IF IF the idle position switch is functioning correctly and the throttle is actually closed. If the cable isn't adjusted correctly it can tighten as operating temps change and slightly open the throttle. This would also activate the idle position switch. If the switch is closed (and it should be) then the ecu cuts fuel at 1500rpm. This is one of the reasons idle cycles up and down on an incorrectly adjusted sytem. Otherwise it would just raise and stay there. Idle position switch needs to function correctly, needs the ground straps required for it to function etc. Go look and report back please.

Problem solved! drove the car with the maf unplugged till i could get a hold of a ISC, got it, changed it, car runs like a dream again! (beat my friends tsi :D) thanks for the quick reply's and advise!

u unpluged the maf? so how is your ecu going to know how much air is going in to compensate fuel?

uhh LOL no its really not, im not one of those kids who lies about usless shit, i dont know why or how it happend, ill make a vid if your really want cause its messed up, i took my car down to the biggest dsm guru in calgary and all he said was wtf. so who knows.

ohhh about the tsi beating, haha well ya. i didnt mention that it runs like poop :p

im going to go with 98mitsubishi on this one, there is no way that you where able to just unplug the MAF and then it all of a sudden fixes itself.
