How can I tell if my tranny is original or if it has been replaced? Is there any identification number on the tranny itself? Reason I am asking is because I bought a 2nd gen with around 160k miles on the car. It has been modified, raced, and abused; I pretty much payed for the shell for the 6 bolt swap. The tranny shifts incredibly smoothly though. No grinds and very easy shifting, which was very surprising. So i'm wondering if it has been replaced. Thanks

If it was built by TRE they usually stamp the top of the housing.
Other places might also, but if it was rebuilt at just a run of the mill trans shop, I doubt it.
The only way to see if it was rebuilt is to crack it open, and im sure you dont want to go through that just to know if it was or not. If it shifts perfect, just enjoy it :thumb:
