i need to upgrade ic pipes, I turned up my boost and ievery gear it was spking then tapering off...I inspecked my pipes an my uicp has a crack on the lower half of the hose just before my tb and I was wondering if this kit http://hirevperformance.net/hksinpiupfor.html will work with my stock IC or if I should go a different route? thanks, Sean

OR

Go to home depot and get 2 2ft 2in ABS pipe and the correct fittings(they have numerous) then get some of there rubber couplers. Assemble the pipes with abs cement. Then cut your stock UICP to make 2 couplers for the hot side ic pipes. home depot couplers will melt so use the stock rubber. This will give you hard pipes for under $20!

and the rubber couplers from Home Depot will blow out at anything over 20psi! Congratulations on the HORRIBLE advice. Please go back to ricer college.

Well lets see, First off he has a stock side mount with stock pipes. He is NOT goint to run 20psi. He was asking for a cheap fix. I have ben running this set up at 15 psi for 3k miles. no problems. Ricer college? :notgood: WOW man. And how is that horrible advice?
Explain.....:tease::tease::toobad::toobad: ####ING ASS-HAT.

+1!! Works good if your running stock boost!

Are you serious? Not everyone here is can afford the "best of everything" Some times you need to make something for $20 if all you have is $20. We all cant afford 2.3L engines GT3582R set up. So before you go trolling around, remember just cause some one is broke does NOT make them a ricer. Shit your more of a ricer than spiralout just for using the term "ricer college". :toobad::toobad::toobad::barf::barf::spam:

I'm not even going to respond to you idiots, you know how stupid you sound...

To the OP, make your choice, but spend your money wisely. Which do you think is going to last longer and be a better investment? HOME DEPOT MODIFICATIONS? Or a quality product designed for our vehicles that have NUMEROUS reviews as being the best bolt on mod you can do for your car at early stages?

Make your own choice, but do it right, or do it twice.

*edit* Also, how do you think it's going to be, stranded on the highway because one of your home depot couplers blew a hole out its side when you hit a boost spike?

If you're too cheap to buy good couplers, then you need to get a honda or some other N/A. If you do insist on buying cheap couplers from Home Depot or what-have-you, then atleast get the silicone 3-ply.

If you are broke, try a local DSM board in the for sale section for a pipe kit. PVC/ABS, rubber, etc are cheap fixes and will ultimately have to be replaced. This is why it's terrible advice. You guys with 70-150 posts should lay off what you say to people with 1000+ posts. Every time you post on the internet, especially when you're giving advice on an expensive machines, you're under intense scrutiny from everyone reading. This is a two way road; people with that many posts have to know their shit up and down because we're being review by people that live for these cars every time we log in. Vendors like slowboy, RRE, dejon, etc dont sell PVC for a reason. They know a little more than you do I'm sure. Sit down, take notes.

i bought a kit off ebay and it wroks great, cost 59 bucks plus shipping if I remember right. Kit fit better than the kit I bought from victory performance, the only thing I changed was I used t bolt clamps instead of the worm clamps that came with it. Ran it for 20k miles with no problems what so ever. It was about year go so the auction isnt listed anymore but when I get home I will go through my paypal reciepts and see if I can find his name.

He doesnt have any IC pipes right now but his user name is t72dawg

Learn the difference between "your" and "you're" before spouting off at people that have been here since your short and curlys grew in.

BTW pvc piping starts to deform at 72* c. If you tighten anything down on it and the air blowing through exceed 72 degrees then the pipe starts to deform and now you have boost leaks. Cpvc will handle temps hotter but are alot smaller in size then pvc considering they are ussually used for small applications. But some of the couplers at home depot will hold alot of boost and are pretty thick. Like the ones that are made for unioning water pipes. just thought i should throw that in.

Just thought I might add that RRE kits (2g UICP and 2g 16g) come with rubber couplers that appear to me to be exactly the same as the sort of rubber I can get at home depot or parts plus. As for PVC I wouldn't use it but if you want cheap pipes then with some paint, exhaust tubing and a few mandrel bends you can make your own stuff that will last pretty well for very little money, beading is the most important part and can be done with a modified vice grips. In all likelihood it will have more bends and your air will not flow as nicely but for 75% of dsm drivers on these boards that will be less performance difference than if they've cleaned their car out recently. There is a place for high end intercooler piping but most dsmers wont need it, imo though there is no place for crappy plastic intercooler piping in turbo cars.

72*F? That is the ambient temp inside home depot. I have been running ABS pipe for months now. There is not a hint or warping/melting/cracking. The pipes are perfect.
Also i use my car as a delivery vehicle, So i put about 100-150 miles a day. The only reason i did this was my stock IC pipes cracked.

First off, So how does fixing a common problem with an unorthodox but effective method make one an idiot? :confused:WTF
This is by no means meant to be a "investment" just a temporary fix. Second, I am not saying this is going to be a performance mod at all just a cheap way to fix boost leaks. Also Those couplers have NEVER let me down. I run 15 psi all day long and i never get boost spike. I don't know to many "stock DSM's" do get boost spike.

I am on a TIGHT budget and i have to work in my car all day. . I got my car working and i have ZERO boost leaks. I do pull all the pipes and couplers and inspect them to make sure they are not burned/cracked.
So this makes me a ricer? Having a reliable car with no boost leaks was my only goal.:dsm::talon::laser:

wow....ummm a simple question turned into a fight LOL.... hey sprial I JUST moved to Westminiter CO!! LOL

mandrel bent tubing + welding,

any coupler will hold just fine if put together with JB Weld

btw I hate you all!!!!!! ... and my dad can beat up your dad

:beatentodeath:

Hahahhah LOL i went out and found some old rubber hose it barley fit but it works...for now LOL. Iam (hopefully) goin to start a really good job tomarrow so that means I can start saving up for good parts LOL

Home Depot is for your "Home", not your car.

LOL, Yeah i saw someone recommended injector neoprene O-rings from H.D.
Well yeah they tore when i installed them, granted this was a temporary fix until i got some OEM ones.

Honda guys can stick with the home depot couplers since there really isn't anything too amazing routed through they're intake charge...except maybe 7-10psi?OMG

I'm not bashing Honda though, they're easy to work on.

well if I land this new job I can get the PR kit... but I really want a short route so I can use my fender/ Bumper area for cold air
