So I purchased this dsm about a week ago, it was leaking oil near the front case.
I replaced all the parts I needed too and the oil leak stopped.

now my question is. Ever since I would start it, the motor gets STUPID hot, for instance I ran it for about 3-4 MIN and I couldn't touch the valve cover at all.

I know there's oil in the top end I can see it sloshing around.
so I know the oil pump is working.

The Temp gauge wasn't connected right when I got the car, so I reconnected it.

I'm not 100% sure on how to check if the water pump is working.

Plus I'm having an extreme about of boost lag. I'm new to DSM's I dont know if this is a simple timing issue, or a full tune issue.

any comments will be greatly appreciated:D

Could be a boost leak, head gasket, leaking coolant, when you buy a car you have no idea of the problems you can have so, you may have to dig into the car and check it out, wp no way of checking, nice to replace it again with a used car anything is possible to go bad or have issues. Maybe time for a teardown and do some maintenace all around starting with you compression test for a possible hg leak.

well ive had two dsms and both of them got hot pretty quick but never overheat so im guessing as long as you dont overheat your good..but dont trust me on that.
and for your boost leak you should check it because you'll be surprised of all the places you could (and possibly are) leaking from.

If u just got it then you should automatically change the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and pullys. After you do "routine maintenance" then see what happens. Until then start from there.

well when I had purchased it, it had newer cams and cam gears.
a new timing belt
new headgasket
a newer front cover new oil pump, the entire motor had been gone through I just didn't know if it getting hot was a turbo thing
or something I should be worried about
it appears as if my temp gauge is working,
and I have a aftermarket boost and oil pressure gauges

my boost at idle says it's at -20, which I've only had one other turbo car so i'm no where near knowledgeable but too me that seems a little low

I've had mine for allmost a month now and from what I can tell these things get really hot really quick I can't touch my motor either(not that I expected to be able to anyway) even opening the Hood after running is hard because its hot I never get too high on the temp gauge though middle or lower you should be fine as long as your temp gauge isn't showing.you your overheating

Also are you running stock Turbo? Do you have a boost gauge to check you should invest in one they can actually tell you a lot!

I have an aftermarket Turbo in my Pillar, and it's showing -20 on the vacuum side

like when I'm on the gas getting it up to boost, it like lags and almost jerks the car, Idk if it's a timing issue or a boost leak, no idea

I personally don't know anything about the -20 seems high not sure, should only be under vacation at idle if your on stock Turbo you will experience a lag of power until around 3k rpm then under boost you obviously have more power so is that he jerk it just accelerating faster? Please elaborate on this jerk? What rpm do you see peak boost any what is the peak boost psi

Yeah bro you did a good job replacing those parts, but you can't stop there! Gotta make sure you jump all over it so the engine doesn't get ruined!
