I need help with tons of Knock

When I say tapping I mean anything vibrating against the engine. Like stated before, usually you dont hear knock or ping at idle

Well I was only hearing knock at idle when the timing was like 25* off, now that I set the base timing, I dont hear it anymore. But I do get a few counts of knock if I rev the motor past 3000 rpms.

It could be something tapping? I put revised lifters in it, so thats not it. I dont hear anything else tapping at idle?

How can I tell if its "phantom knock"??

Something you could try would be to run some race gas and see if the knock persists. If the knock disappears, then you were probably seeing genuine knock. If the knock continues, then this may indicate phantom knock.

Thats a good idea, too bad I just filled half the tank with 93 and I dont want to drive it to use up the fuel bc of the persistant knock.

Those fuel trims indicate that you're running pretty lean... I would use whatever fuel mgmt tool you may have to richen things up a bit. That could be the reason you're pulling timing in itself.

What would be causing my car to run so lean if its basically stock? All I have is a 2.5 exhuast, 2g ex manifold and 2g 02 housing, ported 14b turbo, and a hard intake pipe. Its only running 12lbs, which is besides the point since I never boost the car because I knock just pulling away from a stop.

My bad, I missed it.

When you check the knock sensor, also check to make sure the intake manifold support bracket is bolted tight to the block and to the intake manifold. I had one come loose at the block and the little vibration from it was causing phantom knock.

Thanks for the heads up...Ill check that out.

Any ideas about my previous posts?
