I just got done installing my new clutch. I'm doing this by myself, the car is a '90 awd. The problem I'm having is how in the hell do I get the tranny back in?

I cant find a good place to use a jack, the car is on jack stands but not high enough to put the tranny on a jack first. So I have to slide the tranny under the car, muscle it on to the jack. But then when I try to jack it up into place it slides off the jack and then I have to catch it to soften the fall. Theres not enough room to get my body under it and muscle it up, I can get one arm under but thats alot of weight to lift with one arm. The only idea I can think of is to use my cherry picker, but the problem with that is. Last time I used it I took it apart and put in a storage area of my garage. I don't think I can get it out with my car in the garage. So I need some help.

EDIT:
Second option is to buy a better jack that will lift the car higher and have a larger pad to maybe hold the tranny more stable. I don't want to go this route because of the cost of a good jack, but I will if no one knows any tricks that might work for me.

If you have a friend to help you just lay under the car and have them lift it onto you chest. Once on your chest bench it up into place and have your friend help guide it in. Thats how I did it anyway. You might need to find some taller jack stands to get enough clearance. BTW, do you have the back jacked up too or just the front.

Or, if you have exposed rafters above you you could get some ratchet straps or rope and pully and lift it in with the rope going through the engine compartment. This also works well for pulling engines if you dont have a cherry picker.
