here goes i am ready to get blasted

I was looking at the crate motors at the howell automotive web site. They sell the motors with or with out a core.

1. what is the core?

2. a long block is the whole motor right? (aside from the oil pan and valve cover)

1 a core would be your old block

I'd check with them to ask what exactly their long block is, as the definition has meandered a bit since ye olden days.

By "core", that usually means a rebuildable core, not just that much iron and steel (no failed con rods thru the block, for instance).
