i dont want no brake squeal

right now my stock brakes squeal. and i hate it. i wanted to do something like brembo cross drilled rotors and metal master brake pads, but after searching around, people still experience noise coming from the brakes. would replacing the rotors and pads with stock stuff fix the squeal for sure? i enjoy performance as much as the next guy, but damn, brake squeal really REALLY annoys me.

don't bother with cross drilled they will crack any ways, always do. akebono ceramic brake pads and oem style brembo rotors will be the best bet to beat the squeek. before to wash the rotors with dish soap before putting them on and use a silicone brake lube on the sliding pins.

Why would somebody intentionally want brake squeel? You realize a double negative means you want the opposite right? I dont want you to not use good grammer.

For the last year or so I've been fighting brake noise. I cant tell you how bad mine was. Good lord. It got to the point where I wouldnt even go cruise the normal car hangouts on Fridays and Saturday nights because people laughed at my car.

I tried everything, replacing rotors, pads, brake hardware kits and all of them would only fix it for a week or so.

I was about to buy all new calipers when a friend who is into hotrods suggested I go pickup a product called CRC Disc Brake Quiet.

Let me tell you the shits like magic. I tried that crappy lube they sell you when you get new pads and none of it worked for more then a day or so but this stuff works.

Best I can discribe it would be to say it sorta dries like a rubber sorta coating. You put a good heavy line of it on the back of the pads, rub it around good with your finger or something then let it dry about 10 minutes before putting your pads in.

I havent heard one squeak since I put the stuff on my pads.

lube, lube, and lube. I redid my brakes in the spring only to redo them because I hadnt lubed 100%.

Hey, never underestimate the importance of lube. My girlfriend loves it too.

There are several routine steps in doing a brake job.

1. clean the hardware....slide, clips, retainers......get all the junk off.

2. Clean up the pad surface on the caliper and the piston with a scotch brite pad or something.

3. Lubricate the slides.

4. Make sure your rotor is true.

5. Apply anti-squeel to the pads.....this helps the pad to stick to caliper and piston.


The majority of squeal comes from the pads moving very small amounts very quickly = high frequency squeal. The by gluing pads to the caliper with the anti-squeal you will elminate this movement/vibration, therefore elminating the squeal.

6. Its always good to bleed the brakes.

7. Pump of the brake and let the pad sitck to the calipers for atleats 10 minutes.

The anti-squeal picture above will work well. i buy the Permatex in the spray can becuase it last along time.....many many brake jobs.

As for the original poster: buy some blue anti-squeal gel and put some on the back of your brake pads. The pads vibrate inside the caliper, and this product stops them from vibrating. Also, pull off your rotors, and score them with either 200 or 100 grit sandpaper. Next wash them off, and then re-install.

Do you guys with the squealing brakes use aftermarket pads or OEM Mitsu pads?

I've always ONLY used Mitsu pads and have never had squealing brakes.

Porterfield R4-E, no squeal. Make sure to lube the slides well, and often. 2g's seem to be prone to getting the grease washed out of there (in harsher climates).
