How to weld aluminum and not scratch it?

Seems like I try to be extra careful when doing aluminum but when putting it in the bandsaw or on the bend to weld it, it scratches soooooooo easily. Anyways to prevent it? Can I wrap it in painters tape or masking tape? Or something that won't melt with the heat?
I would polish it, but I don't know how and don't have paitence for it.

When you weld aluminum its melting point after the oxidizing layer is removed is 8-900deg F. There is nothing that I know of that can handle that kind of heat and conduct electricity and be easy to install and remove.

But as far as mock up and taching together you can wrap it in blue painted tape make sure all work surfaces are clean and take your time.

But in the end you will have to touch up stuff and polish the weld area. So invest in a buffing wheel and compound and practice or bring it somewhere when its all done.

You could try setting it on a peice of cloth or leather, as long as your not grounding to the table.

I haven't found a quick/easy way to polish that doesn't require 20 items and an hour of my time for something this smalll.
